If you plan to give a workshop at the FrOSCamp add your paper to the the workshops list. You'll be able to change your paper's details as long as the Call for Workshops is open but not after that.
All calls are now closed.
This list is shared for every language and therefore can contain entries in different languages.
Preliminary decision: Each workshop can take up to 105min (1h 45min). Between two workshops there's a 15min break to allow the audience to change rooms and the speakers to setup their workshop.

Data-center management with puppet
Puppet is an open source data center automation and configuration management framework. Puppet provides system administrators with a simplified platform that allows for consistent, transparent, and flexible systems management. Puppet lets system administrators spend less time on mundane tasks and instead focus on managing their infrastructure strategically.
This workshop will cover the following topics:
- why should you use puppet ?
- what can puppet do for you ? what can't it do for you ?
- overview of the components making up the framework
- language characteristics
- learn to organise your code in classes, definitions and modules
No prior knowledge of puppet is required, but basic linux/unix sysadmin experience is assumed. Bring a laptop with a working ruby and rubygems installation.

Seminarix

Arbeiten mit einer Live-DVD, hier: "Seminarix-based on sidux" in der Ausbildung von Lehrerinnen und Lehrern.
Der Workshop richtet sich an Lehrerinnen und Lehrer, die als Einsteiger mit einer komplett lizenzkostenfreien Rundumlösung in der Schule arbeiten möchten. Die Arbeit in einer definierten Arbeitsumgebung (Live-DVD) lässt eine Reihe von Problemen (unterschiedliche Programmversionen, unterschiedlich ausgerüstete PC oder Notebooks) gar nicht erst aufkommen. Auch Viren, Trojaner oder anderes Ungeziefer spielen keine Rolle. Produkte können auf USB mitgenommen und auf anderen Systemen (Programme vorausgesetzt) weiter verwendet und verarbeitet werden.

Replikation mit PostgreSQL 9.0

PostgreSQL 9.0 wird demnächst veröffentlicht und liefert eine eingebaute Replikation mit. Dieser Workshop zeigt, wie man den Master und den Slave aufsetzt, konfiguriert und beide miteinander agieren lässt.
Ein installierter Compiler + weitere Werkzeuge (make, bison, Devel-Pakete, ...) müssen auf dem Rechner der Teilnehmer vorhanden sein. Während des Workshops wird die aktuelle PostgreSQL Version kompiliert.
