Call for Volunteers
From FrOSCamp
While we're working together with several NGOs and students associations that are a big help we certainly need more volunteers to make this event a huge success. Besides it's less work per volunteer the more volunteers we have. If you're enthusiastic to help out subscribe yourself to the orga mailing list and introduce yourself! Make sure to at least state your name, where you're from/living right now, what's your connection to free and open source software/free contents and how you'd like to help.
There's lots of jobs that need to be done and there's a job for everyone! You love the contact with people? There's the exhibition staff that will help people to find rooms and all. You are born to be a barkeeper? Then you're born to staff our bar at the party!
It doesn't matter whether you're a computer nerd or an artist. It doesn't matter whether you're (feeling) young or old. It doesn't matter what gender, race, religion, hair color and so on you have. It doesn't even matter whether you only have a few hours time! Everyone can help to make this the best event ever.
Here's a list of jobs we need staff for (in no particular order):
- Set up the venue
- Coordinate talks/workshops/hackfests and volunteers
- Man the info desk
- Moderate the talks
- Take care of speakers & co (see that they have everything they need and help them with the equipment)
- Cook coffee and prepare some snack (for everyone but visitors)
- Run the bar (at the party)
- Bands to entertain folks (at the party; music must be creative commons licensed)
- Oversee the party (security and stuff)
- Clean up afterwards (event and party)
- Tear down the venue
- Design flyers (the more the merrier)
- Look out for sponsors
- Translate the website/wiki, announcements/news, flyers, and so on (French would be great, help with German nice but every other language is welcome)
...if you can think of some job missing here, please let us know!
Sounds like fun? Great! Don't hesitate to get in touch with us immediately - it's never too early and never too late.
Also very important: people who spread the word and our flyers - you don't need to contact us for that, just go for it!
